Last week we reached consensus that Madge's ghey dancing anthem was the best #1 of 1990 with 40 ticks, narrowly beating Snap by 1 vote! But what about 40 years ago?

Hah! Our Troggs number one is better than your Troggs number one.
(I can't think of a better year for pop music than 1966, though you have to bear in mind that I look back affectionately at 1966 as THE SECOND WORST YEAR OF MY LIFE, being edged out by the even more horrible 1965.)
We need to do a thread about the greatest songs ever with parentheses in their titles.
PWC is whenever I get the track - I now have a LEAD on this though so fingers crossed. But we can do a poll that day too, the PWC is more of a sloe burner.
I think history's (and Poptimists') collective judgements are pretty on the money here - mild overrating of rub Small Faces single, and comments box hate for awesome Yellow Sub aside.
They didn't have football in the 19th century! They couldn't have. I've just realised I have NO IDEA when football became popular. George Best was in the 80s, right? Or 70s?
braisedbywolves: if it weren't for Nancy on 100% I would be forced to ask you to be more specific in yr bin-consignment choice!
Is this the only year where father and daughter have both had separate number ones? Are there any famous mother-son singing partnerships, cos I can't think of any?
