In the first of a rub new POPTIMISTS SERIES, Mega-City Pop's toughest JUDGE needs YOUR help to decide what sentence to pass on today's hot new "talents". First up are 'girl group' The Pipettes, who seem to divide Poptimists opinion, requiring arbitration from the unbending arm of THE LAW.

[Poll #759407]

So erm basically the poll is 'do you think the Pipettes are a good thing or a bad thing' and the comments box is where you suggest WHY.

I very rarely say this about any music ever, but the fact that they can't sing is a big obstacle to me really liking this. It never rises above the level of Geri Halliwell pastiche B-Side.

Also, it's Spector's wall of sound without the wall or the sound. The Stiff comparison is far more apt, but it still sounds a bit tinny and crap.

Half way through the album I still really like them! But I can't help but think it would sound better if they used PUNKY GUITARS and basically did the Ramones noisy appropriation of 50s pop thing, except with girls.

Aye, but then it would lose the main hook of making nindie boys think they were listening to pop.

You jsut want Kenickie back, don't you?

You might like Juniper Moon, they are like girl Ramones plus they sing in Spanish.
