he is actually quite good as an actor on occasion.

see also Richard Herring's blog on this - i.e. it's really annoying that someone who's such a stunning arse in real life, to the point that everyone ever seems to have an "X is a c*nt story cos...", turns out to be actually pretty good, even memorable, in their chose profession.
