Top 40 Singles Of 2006 Poll #5: May
Jun. 6th, 2006 11:28 amWell predictably Rihanna was beaten off in the end by crazy old Gnarls Barkley and his three more ticks. 'Crazy' got more ticks (27) than any other Top 40 single this year and 87.1% vote share, making it the most popular chart hit of the year among Poptimist members. Who says we're not in touch with Joe Still-Buys-CDs / £50 Mang?
And so now to cast your minds back...way back...to those heady days of May 2006...

Well Hung

Date: 2006-06-06 07:43 pm (UTC)31% 40+ mums and grannies
22% 40+ gay men
19% popist-yet-rockist types working in the media e.g. 'Dr' Fox
11% younger gay men
10% straight, 'true' poptimists
7% kids
but it might be wrong to distinguish 'gay audience' in this respect as i'm not sure he's really held up as a gay icon, despite the 'Switch It On' video - unless perhaps a modern mainstream model with stereotypical traits less in-yer-face. but it seems more irrelevant with him than people before him in a similar position (e.g. George Michael post-Wham).
