Oops - She did it again - WON A NOW POLL that is. Britney topped Now 46, and deletion was averted by a respectable showing for Aaliyah after much lobbying. Less controversy on Now 47 I'm guessing, featuring comebacks for U2, Spices and All Saints, and debuts for David Gray, Nelly and leather-lunged Anastacia.

ZOMBIE NATION.

My killing-H1tler-when-he-was-a-baby story involves seeing David Gray way back in 1992 as a support act. OK I would not have actually killed him had I known but he looked so downcast that one well-placed heckle might have changed pop FOREVER.

I saw Dire Straits supporting Talking Heads in 1978, I believe it was. They seemed like a pleasant enough pub band then - all Sultans Of Swing stuff, no overblown dismal takes on Two Little Boys like Brothers In Arms at all.
