I don't understand what a Godfather is but if you mean 'better version of' then yes, totally - it's the template getting better, stronger, harder (as it were).

The upwards trajectory goes Baby One More Time => Oops I Did It Again => Stronger => Overprotected, at which point she abandoned the template in favour of equally amazing Neptunes stuff and also 'Toxic'.

A mistake to bring "Toxic" into this I think (a very different kettle of fish). The Lex got what I was getting at. Oops! not only reworks and improves on a template it is DYS about it. Hence the Gofather comparison.

Lex may be right that 'Overprotected' is B's Godfather Part III (tho' I should say that I like both).

Britney's best song = 'Before The Goodbye', it is off her third album and BT did it for her. It is some kind of gorgeous spacey ballad and then PUMP PUMP PUMP 4/4 beat explodes it into infinity.

I suppose an argument could be made for 'Do Somethin' being the next step, it's harder than 'Overprotected' but not as good though

i thought 'Do Somethin' was bobbins until it went in the '05 mix alongside MANDY's remix of 'Pass It On' - made it sound much better!

'My Prerogative' and 'Do Somethin' were definite victims of that mindset which equates "not as great and world-changing as eg 'Toxic'" with "bobbins".
