Popfrenzy '98 continues in Now 40 with Billie, Fatboy Slim and DJ DAZ!!!! making their first appearances on a Now (the latter in the guise of BUS STOP). The Spice Girls slide towards their end but the pop world they left behind is thriving.

Now 39 was closely fought but "Never Ever" pulled ahead to win it - double All Saints for your consideration this time - with Pulp, Cornershop and the Spice Girls close behind among a number of high-scoring contenders.

'BE CAREFUL' BY SPARKLE IS THE GREATEST SONG EVER WRITTEN THAT IS ALL.

I talked about it (http://alexmacpherson.livejournal.com/112989.html) earlier this week and even put a WMA of it up so there are no excuses for not ticking it! I do not want it to be a forgotten classic!

Basically if you have any affection for Trapped In The Closet and do not tick 'Be Careful' you are lying to yourself.

She's the aunt of the girl in the R Kelly sex tape innit.

I concur completely, but 'Be Careful' is even better than the trash-pop!

('Feel It' should by rights walk it, Sparkle aside. And actually THIS is my favourite Spice Girls song!)

A week ago the girl next to me was listening to an iPod on the bus, and holding at such an angle that I could see the song titles, and she went from 'Hollaback Girl' to 'Round Round' to...'Save Tonight'!!!

It's not a bad song really. And he gets bonus points for being related to Neneh.

Oh dear, I bought the Fat Les song.

Imaani came 2nd in Eurovision didn't she? Twas the year after Katrina & The Waves IRRC.

Best video = Aqua captured by savages and being cooked up in a big cauldron!

Gobmug = crush-velvet jacket but has some top dance moves in her little Coronation St backdrop innit...

Seriously, Sparkle has less ticks than SODDING THREE LIONS.

I am going to have an apoplexy! Or cry!

Everyone apart from [livejournal.com profile] dubdobdee has some explaining to do!

I don't think so! I like this, and 'Tragedy', a lot, but when they weren't GREAT they were generally SUPER-ANNOYING (same as Ace Of Base).

I don't usually like mixed-gender pop acts, it all feels a bit too much like CBBC presenters and hence Enforced Jollity.

I looked in all the options etc but I think the only mp3 one was at 96 bitrate :(

Can someone convert, or something!

This is where I fight a dying battle with regards to the genius of "Dance The Night Away", right?

Exactly the same with them: love 'Don't Stop Movin', everything else = NO.

Save Tonight is THE WORST song on here. It's even worse than the Mansun one.

I'm kind of torn between Massive Attack (sorry) or Billie here but I think it's be dishonest because the record I got (by miles) the most pleasure out of at the time was Teh Rockerfeller Skank.

Bonus points for Three Lions 98 for the irony in the Gazza line.

I appear to be the only person who likes "S Club Party".

I would say I know how you feel (see uphill struggle re Sparkle: also YOU are one of those people LYING TO YOURSELF, because you are a Trapped In The Closet fan, yes? And yet you did not tick Sparkle). Except to compare Sparkle and the yucky Mavericks would be more than my already-weakened soul could bear.

Oh I'd forgotten about that, I like that too! I just REALLY hate 'Bring It All Back' and 'Reach'.

Is "Kiss The Girl" from the Little Mermaid soundtrack?
From: [identity profile] juror8.livejournal.com
They were dancing! In a supermarket! To Tex-Mex country!

Raul Malo of the Mavericks was the chief instrumentalist on Dominic "Uncle Junior Soprano" Chianese's debut solo album, fact fans.

HAAA I might have to go back and tick it now!

(NB I won't I won't I won't and you can't make me unless you maybe bribe me by promising to tick Sparkle innit)
