Apr. 26th, 2006 02:18 pmA special double edition of the Wednesday Canon spotlighting those two titans of what top dance journo Ronan calls "album dance" - Basement Jaxx, and the Chemical Bros. Both blokey duos, both shifting plenty of units to the non clubbing inclined, both with a penchant for using guest vocalists from the worlds of pop, rap and Nindie. Let us see which of their hits rate, and which are RANK. You get FIVE per artist.

Date: 2006-04-26 02:48 pm (UTC)'Good Luck' for me does do everything people say it does. On the 'legendary' Kish Kash ILm thread I expressed annoyance at Reynolds seemingly flippany complaint that the whole thing was over-egged. I just can't see how Jaxx's attention-to-detail and 'kitchen sink' approach could end up actually spoiling things by being 'too much' (but then I might also say this about 'Intro Inspection' and obv. I am not a musician and might expect one to say this). In addition Basement Jaxx are largely responsible for dtermining the staunch maximalist approach I continue to champion.
All this said though, I don't think there will be a real 'big beat revival' - it's difficult to see people going back to slower beats with resonance - it WOULD seem retrogressive.
