The poorly-received Now 33 throws up a winner in the form of Terrorvision Pulp - but only by one vote this time from Saint Etienne, then Luniz-Lush-Dubstar in that order. Much anger aimed at Wasis and Cast, and the best Radiohead song seems to be "Just", which is a bit of a shocker.

And now it's ALL CHANGE on Now 34 - this is the first Now that feels 'modern' to me, except I suppose it doesn't now, as the 'era' (in my head) that "Wannabe" kicked off came to an end...when? Well that's another question. Meanwhile - first Spices! first solo Robbie! Peter Andre! Underworld! 2Pac! The riotous return of the do-you-see track sequencer! AND LOTS MORE! Including some real stinkers too, naturally.

Hmm, werk database sa Los Del Mar as well. I sa definitely Rio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Del_Rio). Stupid international naming conventions.

there were two version of 'Macarena' released at the same time iirc - which might explain the confusion! one did signficantly poorer than the other, tho i'm not sure how different they sounded from each other.

I couldn't possibly comment. However I do have access to a (ahem slightly confidential) database of every UK-published musical recording from about 1960 onwards, and quite a few from before then as well.

Ooh any chance you could check out this (http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=6864171) for me? ILX seems to be unable to help.

Hmm. Database is only really bringing up results for FLOYD DYCE (http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dice+(3)) (of Baby D Let Me Be Yr Fantasy fame).

There is also this Finnish dude (http://www.discogs.com/artist/Dice) which might be him.

Results for song title SELF DESTRUCTION include recordings by:
Tim JONES, SHELLEYDEVOTO, GUANA BATZ, NINE INCH NAILS, RAW NOVEMBRE, BLOODGOOD, GBH, The SERVANTS, The STOP THE VIOLENCE MOV, BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS, CHARGED G.B.H., Mick FARREN.

If its not a UK song then it might not be on here. If it was American I can check out some other leads...

Well, if I am to trust this wonky memory I might as well trust the twice as wonky memory that they may well have been Dutch.

Finnish dude looks a bit young to have released anything in 1981.

Thanks for trying though! :)

Probably for the best, I'd rather not be the one who initiated your DOWNFALL.

A astounding success though! I wonder why Norwegian radio played a French single no-one ever has heard of since...
