The poorly-received Now 33 throws up a winner in the form of Terrorvision Pulp - but only by one vote this time from Saint Etienne, then Luniz-Lush-Dubstar in that order. Much anger aimed at Wasis and Cast, and the best Radiohead song seems to be "Just", which is a bit of a shocker.

And now it's ALL CHANGE on Now 34 - this is the first Now that feels 'modern' to me, except I suppose it doesn't now, as the 'era' (in my head) that "Wannabe" kicked off came to an end...when? Well that's another question. Meanwhile - first Spices! first solo Robbie! Peter Andre! Underworld! 2Pac! The riotous return of the do-you-see track sequencer! AND LOTS MORE! Including some real stinkers too, naturally.

- This is the last good Suede song yes?

- JX was a golden god, this is the best handbag track ever, it will get zero votes no doubt :( HELP US DORSALSTOP

- Macarena = good

- Space - I can't remember a band (maybe the Levellers in 93) whose success so disgusted me at the time, I think if I thought about them for more than 10 seconds the bile would all come back.

- OMC = OMG MORE LIKE! "How Bizarre" should be up there.

- I can't imagine any reason at all why someone wouldn't tick "California Love".

- Has there ever been a more horrible title than the Bryan Adams song?

handbag = the cheesier end of house music, often a big big piano hook, but still with a good bit of oomph behind it. see also Livin' Joy's 'Dreamer' and countless others.

Rex The Dog > JX! it's still hard to believe it is the same guy because of the increased sophistication of the RTD productions compared to JX, but that's ten years of consolidation and genre development for you i guess

i still think 'Female Of The Species' is a great track - i like the brass. everything else they did can pretty much burn in hell tho.

OMC: WANNA KNOW THE REST HEY, BUY THE RIGHTS!

I didn't like 'California Love' at the time. 'Bloody show-offs' I thought. There was a 'California Love' part 2 or alternate version of it that's also pretty nice, but obv. not as great as this.

That JX song is the best singalong handbag track, as it has a wonderfully euphoric yeah-yeah-yeah bit that anyone can sing as there are no words to remember. Marvellous.
