It's the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber canon!

I'd be the first to concede that ALW and his henchmen have been responsible for a great deal of wank. But they've also brought us some fantastic POP and this is what the Friday Canon is here to celebrate.

You get FIVE picks from the selection presented. To get it down to something representative and manageable I have bent the strict Friday Canon rules a little, i.e. OUT goes "No Matter What" by Boyzone, IN comes "Superstar" and only one version per song is listed. BUT if you love a song and don't know the precise version given you may of course vote for it anyway.

It does! It's ace. It was my early exposure to odd time signatures and analogue synths! My parents watched the SBS and thought "that's nice" and bought the tape, which we listened to a lot during Monopoly games. And then you find out it's got Gary Moore on it! And Don Airey and Jon Hiseman and Barbara Thompson. And a "tribute" section featuring a thinly disguised version of FBI. On the whole, 5/4-tastic!
