The Return of Poptimism!

OK, sort of. Whilst we continue our search for a new venue, here are a couple of things you might like!

1. POP PUB QUIZ

The First Poptimism Pub Quiz will take place on Thursday 16th March in the upstairs room of The Grouse And Claret, 14-15 Little Chester Street, in Belgravia (nearest tubes Hyde Pk Corner and Victoria). We will start at 7.30 (honest) although we have the room from 6 or so. It's maximum six people per team, and we will be taking £1 per person for the prize money. There will also be lots of between round mini-games and silliness and please don't worry about the difficulty, quizmaster freakytigger promises that you won't need monster pop knowledge to have a good time.

2. Poptimists at PASHA!

Yes, barnetape and I shall be playing at Pasha on Tuesday 21st, at the after-show party for Imperial College's RAG Fashion show with [gasp] Andy Rourke from THEM SMITHS and Simon Price from THAT INTERWEB. Sounds like it's going to be a top night. It's £10 in advance, but hey, it is for CHARITY innit.

As usual in this sort of missive, if anyone has a lead on a venue that would be good for proper Poptimism, please please let us know, we are old and don't get out much innit ;)

Are we expected to create our own teams for Ver Pub Quiz, or will they be randomly selected on the night?

um, yes, own teams i guess. i'm sure we could arrange some sort of "match-making" service for ppl who don't arrive in a big gang though...

it's kind of about how many tables there are in the pub you see ;)

1) Any chance of the questions being posted after the fact for us on different land masses? (Questions that require hearing things excluded, obv.)

2) Re Poptimism venue search: I'm pretty sure I'm one of those least able to contribute here due to above, but still: what are the requirements for the venue again? And how many people usually turn up etc?

1. would've thought so, yes.

2. central londonish, half-decent beer at half decent prices, a dj set-up so we don't have to worry about kit, not run by tw@s. it's not that much to ask is it? the last few at the poley bear we were averaging 80-90 people (mainly lovely lj-types) over the course of the evening...

Right. Only asking bcz on short trip to London last weekend ended up in teh White Hart @ Liverpool St, which advertised their so-called Cellar Bar to Private Parties of >50 ppl for Free Hire. Karaoke was mentioned in blurb, so sound might be available I guess, but I've no idea whether Club Night = their idea of Private Party, or whether they may indeed be tw@s, or whether it is otherwise unsuitable.

I shall also query my Londonish-living bravvah who's a Trained Actor ie he's worked in a multitude of alcohol-serving places over the years.

(erm when you say "dj set-up" you just mean "practical way of playing CD's", right?)
