It is TEN DAYS until the Poptimists Pub Quiz.
It is TWO DAYS until voting closes in the Pop World Cup Group G. Voting levels have PLUNGED for this group, for whatever reason, so please do get your ballot in!
It is SEVENTY OR SO DAYS until Eurovision - well done DJ Daz.
It is ONE DAY since Chico topped the charts, I haven't actually heard his song, is it jolly?
It is ABOUT FIVE HUNDRED DAYS since they started doing the download chart - and here's my question: what difference have downloads made to the make-up of the singles chart? (Since around 2/3 of sales are now e-sales, presumably any difference would now be noticeable). My initial partial answer: current chart rules have completely failed to bring back 'climbers', which is what all the old grumps moan about, what does seem to have happened is that songs linger in the Top 40 for EVER much more easily.
It is THREE DAYS since I asked about Prince - here's the official purple kanon:
1. 1999 (32 votes) (I am surprised at this, I thought the millenium, no scuse me, WILLennium, had soured it for many)
2. When Doves Cry (30 votes)
3. Kiss (28 votes) (not at all surprised at these)
4. Gett Off (26 votes) (only non-80s winner)
5=. Raspberry Beret (25 votes)
5=. Sign O The Times (25 votes)
7. Purple Rain (24 votes)
8. Let's Go Crazy/Take Me With U (23 votes)
9. Alphabet Street (22 votes)
10=. Little Red Corvette (21 votes)
10=. U Got The Look (21 votes) (expected both of these to do better)
Top 90s songs, apart from Gett Off, were Cream (13), Most Bootiful Girl (12) and Sexy MF (11).
Personal big favourite that got shockingly few votes (7) - Anotherloverholenyohead.
Songs that got zero votes: The Holy River, Dinner With Delores, Letitgo, The Arms Of Orion, Partyman, and - somewhat surprisingly - Glam Slam.
