marc bolan was only in the JCs for six months -- during 1967 -- but even w/o him they were controversial: they did nudie publicity shots and wild shows, and their single had the words "lift up your skirts and fly" so the beeb didn't play it

i did see john's children at the monarch about 7 years ago. they'd gone a bit fiddly-diddly (unsure as to how many original (non-marc) members were left), but most importantly, GOT THEIR (teenage) KIDS ON STAGE to sing/play along, JOHN'S GRANDCHILDREN!!!

Looking at the articles lists it seems to have been a fairly half-hearted stab at the teen market but playing up the music angle and playing down the hearthrob stuff (at least explicitly).
