[identity profile] jauntyalan.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] poptimists

Hi, Kelly Clarkson here. Sorry there was no chart last week - a boot to the head for the admins at last.fm who seem to have missed out an entire week of pop life in our charts. But here's the full run down for last week:

Swingfly - Something's Got Me Started 7
Sugababes / Popjustice.com - I Bet That You Look Good On The Etc Etc Etc 7

Nelly Furtado - Maneater 6
Smoosh - Rad 5

Betty Boo - Let Me Take You There 4
Delays - Valentine 4
Morningwood - nth Degree 4
The Streets - When You Wasn't Famous 4
The Research - Lonely Hearts Still Beat The Same 4
Obour - Atentenben 4

So this week intrigued poptimists (nearly a quarter of us) were checking out the bloke from Teddybears and the 'babes in an Arctic role (I SO FUNNY) making them a joint number 1. Close up behind runs the surprise pop loveliness from Nelly "That one good joke Mark Lemarr did once" Furtado and, the reincarnation of Daphne and Celeste that is Smoosh smash in at 4th place. The rest of the top 10 is all joint 5th place with divisive songs in the form of morningwood and the streets new single (is it any good? it's grown on me a little i must admit), and the pop world cup making up the rest. I think.

Next week, fingers crossed, suckers

- Kelly x

I played Nelly Farts WELL over 6 times! I played it five times in a row the first time I heard it!

I denounce this chart is "slightly inaccurate".

seconded. It never makes any sense

It only counts the number of people playing a track. So yr multiple plays all counted a single play for the chart.

Ahhhhhh I getcha.

I can't access last.fm from work - how many ppl are members of the poptimists group? It would be interesting to know WHO didn't listen to Nelly F...

I can do it once I get home, but have been notoriously slack the last couple of weeks for promising luffly tunes then not delivering, so I should not be relied upon...

Is it really only number of people? Bah, that's rubbish. (although it does mean that if eg one PWC track does better then maybe the other ones weren't listened to long enough to show up on audioscrob! ...or dudes be like me and turn off the audioscrobbler plugin before intensive listeing to stuff for review-ish purposes because they are obsessed with messing with their own data.)

Isn't it some combination of 'number of people listening to x' and 'number of times x is listened to' they use? I've been v curious about this for a while...

I really like the new Streets single (and have an mp3 if anyone is keen to hear) - it sounded a mess at first but I like it more every time I play it. It also has as good a spoken finish as I've heard in ages.

Alan, lots of wonderful stuff happening on ILM. The mod requests threads don't necessarily provide an accurate overview.

Seems to me I've been hounding you guys continually to post on the teenpop thread.

Also, the Rolling Country Threads have been ace since their inception, which has been almost two years now.

Yeah, I read the country thread, but I can't understand most of it in that it is largely about people I've never heard and have little chance of hearing. When I have slsked for particular things I've rarely had any luck.

Surely there are country stations that stream their signal online. If I run across one, I'll let you know.

There are indeed hundreds of online stations, and certainly some are country. I'm not a big enough fan to spend a lot of time listening to a dedicated country station, in all honesty, where I will find most of the music uninteresting. I'm too keen on variety. What I really want is people to do all the listening and give me mp3s of all the best stuff...
