I'm short of football metaphors this evening actually (Brian), but:
Ivory Coast - very good. I was worried that, with a nearly 6 minute running time this might be coasting on its juju beat and lengthy guitar breaks by the end. But not a bit of it. Rings the changes nicely throughout. Those heavily emphasised major chords in the backing vocals = charming.
Serbia - liked this as well. The rhythm, once it got going, reminded me a bit of Jamaican dancehall. A daring choice for sure - e.g. it's noticeably slower in tempo than most picks so far - but one that may well pay off for umlauts. I liked its oddness.
Hmmm, points allocation is going to be tricky in this group but I fear it's the Dutch who are going to really miss out.
