poptimists | Songs of 2010 - SEND YOUR BALLOTS NOW! (Reply)

OK dudes of course when I said this post would appear on Tuesday I obviously meant FRIDAY. Look, here's a picture of a dog dressed up as Lady Gaga to say sorry:

Right. Back to business! At last the time has come to submit your top songs of 2010!

All you have to do is follow the easy steps below:

1) Make a list of your favourite songs of 2010*. You can pick up to 20. Fewer than 20 is fine, and if you really want to you can send us a list ten miles long, but only the top 20 will count for voting purposes. The order is important - your #1 ranked song will be allocated more points than #20.

2) Send the list to poptimistspoll2010@gmail.com with 'POPTIMISTS' or 'LIVEJOURNAL' or 'HELLO KAT HERE IS MY BALLOT' clearly marked in the subject line**.

3) Do all this before 1am GMT on December 31st 2010, because I have to come into work that morning and will need something to look at to pass the time.

4) Wait on tenterhooks until January when the the results will be REVEALED.

5) Don't worry if you've never posted or commented - you don't even have to have a Livejournal account, let alone be a

poptimists community member. However if we get the Snow Patrol street team piling in specifically to derail our poll then we may have to 'adjust' for that.

*This means songs released in 2010. If one of your songs 'appeared' in 2010 but hasn't actually been released at all then that's fine, as are 2010-charting singles that were released on 2009 albums. We will be reasonably lenient about things but please don't put e.g. 'Bad Romance' in your list even if it has been the soundtrack to your year, because that's kind of taking the p1ss.

**This is because in an Exciting News For All Our Readers fashion we are also going to gather votes from Freaky Trigger readers using the same email address and conjure up all sorts of interesting stats (probably even a GRAPH).
