There's still plenty of time to vote in the Rihanna Canon - Umbrella in the lead as expected, but Don't Stop The Music is catching up Pon De Replay. I may put up another one on Friday...

Where's the pillow at the end of our fights?
Date: 2010-08-16 08:36 pm (UTC)Tinchy Stryder "In My System": Tinchy's not the most ebullient fellow, but the synths have a distant Caribbean eeriness that make him almost seem poignant. Still, this only gets by 'cause Jodie Connor is in there singing the chorus, and the tune dominates. TICK.
Ellie Goulding "The Writer": Ellie's tormented me in the past by latching onto sumptuous dance tracks that prevent me from altogether dismissing her, despite the far too-precious little-girl spookiness of her singing. No such problem here, as this track's swaying sing-song-y triplet rhythm is an excellent analogue to the little drippy-drip of her voice. NO TICK.
Devlin "Brainwashed": Jodie again, but with a dime-a-dozen tune this time; Devlin's rhythm pushes off the beats in an interesting manner. Wish he and Tinchy had traded melodies. NO TICK.
