Difficult to judge on little clip alone obviously but initial thoughts are that this simply feels a bit like jumping on a bandwagon after the horse pulling it has already bolted.
i.e this feels like a Katy Perry/Britney mash-up.
of ocurse after the ludicrous build up that even I managed to notice anything was bound to be underwhelming
also I liked to 40s pinup thing & "Candyman" and "Ain't N Other Man" were great singles
As in, she was released better singles, and worse. It is solidly in the mid-range of her output, the ones I'd stay on the floor for if I were already dancing, but which would not itself drag me away from my seat.
On first play, I'm really not sure. I like the way the rhythm refuses to cooperate, but Xtina sure doesn't dominate it with her own part, and she doesn't embed herself within the uncooperativeness either.
I've never felt that she knew what to do with her chops, but I like that she's - therefore - willing to try different things. Even 40s pinups. And songs that don't rely on chops.
