Chipmunk squeezes past the Saturdays to grab the top spot.

[Poll #1469841]

You have until tomorrow to vote in Heat #7 of 2002 - can Jimmy Eat World catch up the Sugababes? Will DB Boulevard overtake Shy FX in the run-off? It's UP TO YOU, dear poptimists. Don't forget to fill in your new favourite from the list to earn an extra tick in Heat #8.

(apols if you've seen this twice - I messed up the previous poll)

Yay Chipmunk! I'm am very keen to hear what his alBUM sounds like (whereas with Dizzee and Tinchy, I was a bit 'yeah whatever' - and still haven't listened to them!)

Medina's 'You And I' came out to download yesterday, and is a surefire hit... guess it missed out on this poll, but maybe next week? It's already #45 on Amazon's MP3 charts, and it's starting to get quite a lot of airplay.

Woman nine years younger than I am sounds washed-up.

Chipmunk "Oopsy Daisy": Reasonably pretty chorus, but Chipmunk sounds as if his mind is somewhere else. His worst hit. NO TICK.

The Saturdays "Forever Is Over": Finally, a wailing chorus has a tune worth wailing. TICK.

(P.S. I'm quite proud of my Jukebox write-up, though now I'd up the score a notch, to 8.)

Whitney Houston "Million Dollar Bill": She can't overpower anymore, so she adapts by... She doesn't adapt! The cinematic bass and hooky "uh-uh oh-oh" earn this track my respect, but it needs a blast of force Whitney can't provide. Sad. BORDERLINE NONTICK.

Mumford & Sons "Little Lion": Electric doom, while acoustic instruments promise a crazed, committed hoedown. Instead we get typical passive-aggressive indie rue. The surrounding drama sucks me in nonetheless, but I am strong and escape its pull. BORDERLINE NONTICK.

Nothing really terrible this week, but no stunners either. All 4 songs were borderline, with Saturdays and Mumford & Sons edging out the other two. Chipmunk is yet another weak #1.
