I'd be happy to listen to all of these, I think! I'd prefer a greater mix of artists but Missy, DC and things ending in 'xx' really did seem to dominate this year.

(v. important this) I suggest we don't have a 2000 final, 2001 final, etc but jumble up all the qualifiers and pit them against each other. After all, we're trying to find the best song of the decade here (ultimately). And let's face it, the cream of 08/09 is going to be a sorrier bunch all told than the 01/02 qualifiers.

I think that last statement might be a bit controversial! However all comments will be taken on board then ignored in my insane lust for YET MORE POLLS. Srsly tho, I have thought up but one possible method so far for polling the years/decade so all suggestions welcome :)

For 09, we're going to have an EOY singles poll (of course) so I dunno whether or how you want to mesh those...

It's a bit tricky tho. The maximum number of ticks you can have in a poll is 45. This is temptingly close to the top 40 we assemble from each given year...

You can get round the 45-ticks thing with a spot of coding, but it all gets a bit bewildering if there are too many songs in one poll.

In general it feels good to assemble Top 40s!

Of course I am a wuss and when I do the second chance things I always cram a few extras in.
