As before* this is being done canon-style - you get THREE picks plus! whether you pick the X-Factor or not in the main poll you can take part in the special sub-poll.

[Poll #1312786]

*all polls will be open until the end of the year when official results will be posted.

And remember - send yr list of 10 top tracks to leagueofpop@gmail.com before the end of the year too.

I don't know what Diana's claw of doom is, but I voted for it. Is it, like, her voice?

but what's wrong with adele's face?

nothing! it's fine - most unfair to single her out for this. plus it's better than her voice and songs.

I unticked The Charts Being Rubbish because I want Scouting For Girls to win.

This doesn't sound horrible at all -- more like "terrible," in all of its many variations.

I want Alexandra to do a big diva house version of it.

For some reason, even though I've been aware how it's become this huge squatting cliche, I've managed to actually avoid hearing it for years. I still like both the Cohen and Buckley versions (the Wainwright I thought was a disappointment at the time), and would like to hear more "interpretations" of it. (Though not by Eoghan Quigg.)

I can't in good conscience give Scouting for Girls a tick if I have not also ticked the View. However, I also cannot in good conscience untick Katy Perry or the charts. I'll untick Palin ONLY because she's so unrelated to horrible POP things of the year. In fact, she was an awesome Pop Thing, just a horrible Political Thing.

VIEW vs. SCOUTING FITE.

I feel like I am somehow involved in unfairly maligning Ms Adele by selecting this poll option, but I merely take the "face" reference to be a mirror to the musical heart of darkness soul. Her actual face, indeed physical appearance, is of little import -- I don't think I can properly recall what she looks like, tbh.

I assume it's that smug, pinched pout she does all the time rather than her actual potato-like visage, but I agree that her voice and songs are EVEN WORSE.

re: Palin, I know right! The only way to even put up with her presence was to conceptualise her as a purely Pop Thing.

...to my fellow Ting Tings tickers. I can't remember when I last hated a band this much, even Katy Perry doesn't annoy me to this level.

I have still not read an adequate defence of them, either.

Wow.

I'd never heard the Bond song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRg1CwAYbfE

Bond b-bond bond bond...

I'm not sure what's worse about the song's first verse: that he emulates Roger Moore only because of the rhyme scheme (if he'd found a rhyme for "Connery" I'd be impressed!) or that the first film he references is THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. WTF.

Sorry, I kinda like a Ting Ting song or two. Can't do it.

I like the Ting Tings and Katy Perry albums (in that order.) Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" will probably make my top ten singles list of the year. It's great.

Had I made nominations, I probably would have nominated:

-- John Rich’s Republican bootlicking

(That said, neither the Metallica nor Guns N Roses albums are COMPLETELY horrible. In fact, I kind of *wish* they were even worse; they'd be more fun to talk about that way.)

no way can 18yr old fat lass ever come off smug really - even if that many industry bigwigs have told her that her voice is incredible. she just looks really miserable and almost embarrassed in many photos.

still surprised at how they repped her so much more over Duffy. i am going to buy Music Week this week and we'll see what irritants they're grooming for Grammy noms next year.

Also, as an American, most of your No 1 singles this year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_100_number-one_hits_of_2008_(United_States)) have been pretty good. You should be smug about your charts!

I haven't read an adequate attack on them!

I don't care for them much but I'm mystified by why they'd be DESPISED, their name aside.
