Her proper official lead single for Fantasy Ride is out as of the other week, and has what is possibly the BEST COVER ART OF THE YEAR:

Vintage pulp poster pastiches FTW!

(Oh, and in case someone wants to hear it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uR7RX71LhFQ )

A+ for the Princess Cici!

(Sadly this does not apply to the song...I think I've had a little success in trying to think myself into liking it but I still can't tell where the chorus is. Or even if there is one. And wtf at not releasing 'High Price'? 'Click, Flash' would've been better than this too.)

(Thanks for those mp3s btw! Both excellent.)

On one listen I'm having the same reaction as you to the single. I like the beats rolling like ball bearings under the melody, but it's not a melody that jumps out and grabs you. A likable sound, but without immediate impact. Familiar voice, w/ a hint of this year's sound effects. In a movie made in 2023 and set in 2008 this song would be nice to evoke the sound of the time without skewing things by standing out as a song in its own right.

But I recall that I actually did not like "Promise" at first (yes, I know, I is an idiot, but that is the truth), and I recall that Ciara is good at turning apparent weaknesses into strengths, so I'm not ready to chisel my disappointment in stone.
