Grease is GREBT and naysayers are fun-hating. It's not the best musical ever but dudes the Sound of Music will never be beat!

Things about Grease:
- Seeing Shane Ritchie and Sonia do it at the Dominon and Shane tried to put his hand up Sonia's top and it was SHOCKING to pre-teen me.
- 'Greased Lightning' is the worst song by miles.
- Rizzo is the best.
- Frenchy is k-annoying.
- J Travolta looks well hilarious in a cardigan and he should have donned it much earlier in the film for moar comedy.

I ticked "awesome" but that is because I've only heard two songs, so I actually might be boringly equivocal if I'd heard more.

According to Wiki Sha Na Na performs "Blue Moon," which is an excellent song, but Sha Na Na is not an excellent band, so for now my vote stays with "You're The One That I Want." (Immediately heads to YouTube.

Update: Sha Na Na "Blue Moon" is worse than mediocre, its submediocity no doubt lending an air of verisimilitude to the teen dance.

Ah - the film is a bit different song-wise from the original musical but is mostly plot-similar.

THE PLOT: Oliva N-J is a nerdy do-gooder who meets J-Trav at summer camp (or something), then she STALKS him by moving to his school. He's super-cool and she is a super-nerd. They give it a bish anyway. The end.

I have just now added my "No" to the megamix. I suspect that the soundtrack is not a good value in comparison to buying two or three singles. Is no SNF. (Still not changing my "tick" from awesome to equivocal, though.)

I am not actually that equivocal, I definitely like what I've heard (about...two, three songs maybe), I just wouldn't go so far as AWESOME. It's one of those things where you can appreciate the craft, but because it's so entrenched in popular culture this feels somehow insufficient.

"You're The One That I Want" and "Grease" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Every song on HSM that isn't "Breaking Free"

In my head, the Grease Megamix will forever be associated with awkward pre-teen discos, with boys and girls on separate sides of the room, hollering their gender-appropriate bits of tune at each other: hence as a FEMINIST I am against it cos that meant girls never got to sing 'greased lightning'.

I know ALL THE WORDS to 'freddy my love' due to having to sing it in some kind of shonky choir-camp 'musical'.

freddy my love, i miss you more than words can say
freddy my love, please keep in touch while you're away
hearing of you can make the days so much better
getting a souvenir or maybe a letter
i nearly flipped over the grey cashmere sweater
freddy my love, freddy my love, freddy my love, freddy my lo-ove etc etc etc.

I just now changed my vote from "Terrible" to "Boringly Equivocal", after I thought about it a bit. I think some of the songs are terrible (I still hate "You're the One That I Want" and "Greased Lightning"), but I love "Hopelessly Devoted to You"; "Grease" and "Summer Nights" also are pretty good (though I used to hate both those songs).

Twelve of you are completely WRONG about the megamix.

I like the phrasing of that question, by the way. I suppose it's meant to mean "Is the Grease Megamix better than any given individual song...from Grease?" but it could also mean "Is the Grease Megamix better than any given individual song...ever?" (In either case, the answer is yes.)

Me too. I did put Look At Me I'm Sandra Dee in the non-famous box first, but deleted it because errrrr I thought it might be a *bit* famous.

I also require that option. TBH my equivocality can probably be pushed into tick by the "No Grease = No Kenickie" argument.

My thoughts on Grease are boringly equivocal (never had anything against it, watched it a bunch with my sisters as a kid, always enjoyed some not all, nothing fantastic but certainly nothing terrible *yaaaaaawn*) I'd just like to point out that at the time of this writing the distribution for this poll looks like Batman.

The film had extra songs written by the BeeGees, and John Farrah who had been writing for and producing ONJ.

The soundtrack has lots of dodgy filler from the dance contest, IIRC.

I do like "Bop To The Top," maybe because its sounding chintzy is completely intentional. (Just as a I like Hilary Duff's deliberately trashy "Boom Boom Bang Bang" (track from movie where she plays a bad Russian singer) more than all but one or two tracks on Dignity). But I really like the song "Grease."

Noooo, Grease 2 is amazing! 'Reproduction' is so educational it has actually been shown in schools! (Well, a school that I know of. TRUFAX.)

'Grease' is one of the only big songs from the film that I'm not actually that fussed about, for some reason. I have no idea why.

*goes to investigate 'Boom Boom Bang Bang'*

BAD SONGS FROM GREASE:
-Greased Lightning
-Hopelessly Devoted
-We Go Together
-Summer Lovin'
-Sandy

GOOD SONGS FROM GREASE:
-Grease Is The Word (which is k-amazing)
-Beauty School Dropout
-There Are Worse Things I Could Do

However, only GITW really merits any sort of applause. I have never understood why people go so mad over Grease.
