I know skyecaptain flagged Keke Palmer up at the end of 2007 but I remember saying back then that the full genius of 'Keep It Movin' wouldn't make itself known until summer, and so it has come to pass. I cannot stop listening to this. SUMMER JAM TIME.

What do you think of "Friend Me Up" and "Bottoms Up"? Although those two don't get mentioned much, they may be my favorites, at least after "Game Song." On "Friend Me Up" it's almost as if the singing and the accompaniment have been straining in slightly different directions, then in the chorus they suddenly find each other, and then in later choruses this allows her to take off while getting the full support of the background singers (who are probably her). On "Bottoms Up" it's as if the music is landsliding right down on her and she's figuring out how to ride the landslide. I'd like to hear Rihanna take a shot at this.

Word. I didn't discover the album until this month, but Keep It Movin' is clearly the ultimate summer jam. Current favourite moment is the harmonies on 2-1-2, 3-1-2, 3-1-0.

Friend Me Up rides the beat well, although the repeated "friend me up"s can get a bit grating depending on what mood I'm in. Bottoms Up and Footworkin' are probably the two tracks where I really get the juke-pop vibe Dave described the album as, and work quite well. Music Box has the sucker punch of escapist emotion and Game Song is perfectly bonkers.

I remember 'Bottoms Up' but not 'Friend Me Up' - tbh I rarely get beyond 'Music Box' on the album cuz whenever I listen to it I have to put one of the first three on loop. This isn't cuz the rest of it is bad or anything, I'll have to remedy this sometime...
