"The four-legged hit machine has done it again"

Wise words, Vernon Kaye. Sadly they are inaccurate, as I counted Westlife's legs and they actually have eight between them.

Yes folks, I've just been watching ITV's Record Of The Year 2005, and the Wezzoesthe Loife have done it again with their fourth victory in said competition. It wasn't a popular decision with the audience, waves of BOOING from the McFly contingent almost drowned out Vernon's inane babbling.

I also saw the full 3 & half minutes of My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas, a song so dreadful that three regions (Scotland, England South and Midlands) actually voted it top! It was still my favourite out of the other top 5 contenders - James Rhyming Slang, Daniel Pewter, Loife and the Fly. In fact out of the bottom five only Gweng Stefani rang my pop bell.

BUT NEVER MIND! Cos this morning I discovered a marvellous pirate radio show called Hardcore Evolution (or something) which played the following two tracks whilst I was doing the washing up:

T99 - Anasthasia
Bizarre Inc - Playing With Knives

Is that a copy of Rave Nation in your deck or are you just pleased to see me!

P.S. BRENDA TO WIN!!!
EDIT BRENDA WZ ROBBED!!!

Thanks for those two! Also, I entirely agree re Brenda - I was sure the tiresome Journey South were going, especially when they were in the bottom two.

Yes, Bryan Adams is always a terrible choice. This statement is true under any circumstances, I think.

We caught the end of the ROTY after watching 3 x Doctor Adventures. Our shock at the popularity of My Humps was only matched by our later horror at Journey South going through to the final X-factor.

Alternative explanation for Humps = it's all about the menstrual cycle, innit?

It did occur to me afterwards that Vernon Kayeman might have been being KNOWINGLY RUDE, but we are innocents of course.

oh also your first point: I assume that Vernon Kay was planning on attacking them with machetes after the show, until they had only four legs between them. This leads to the end of their career, and also Vernon Kay gets locked up for life, so it's win-win.

The songs are written by a coffee table called Brian.

ha, that's a fantastic comp, & the T99 track is one of my favourites ever (I'm pretty sure I've posted it before! or maybe it was just for starry, hmmn) - best example of "duff euro-rapping" EVAH!

No but I have a copy of GROOVY GHETTO - ALL THE RAGE (http://www.gracenote.com/music/album.html/genunclassifiable/98bdc71facc214c7423c85eddb36d1dc.html). The first mix CD i think i ever bought - back in 91 - and that has (a chunk of) T99 on it to play out. smashing

My copy of T99 is on Back to the Old School 2 - where it is also the last track, and track 20, like Kat's sample is! Has science discovered the perfect final track for early 90s comps?

I have it on the original Hardcore Dancefloor cassette comp. Good old Dino Entertainment, eh? The ravers' K-Tel.
