The Nineties Revival
Sorry for the delay on these reveals and reviews for the Pop Open Nineties group! Work went a bit crazy at the end of last week and then my home interwebs fell over. The deadline for voting is, plainly, NOT this morning, but will now be tomorrow lunchtime.
TRACK ONE: Alison Hinds and Square One - "Iron Bazodee" - no wiser after listening to this what a bazodee is. This starts off excellently and dramatically - "Could not remember my husband's name" - but then goes into a more standard soca-carnival-wahey riff - still fun though. Soca sounded pretty much like this in the 80s and 00s too mind you.
TRACK TWO: Souls Of Mischief - "Diseshowwedo" - typically nimble-tongued early 90s hip-hop cut, the kind of thing that gets some older heads practically crying with joy and regret. Dextrous posse cut but the verbal gymnastics leave me a bit cold somehow.
TRACK THREE: Me Phi Me/Jeriko One - "HereWECome" - Fearsomely earnest hip-hop/rock crossover cut which says "90s" to me more than any of the others. Preposterous but forceful and an unlikely grabber of my first-place vote I think.
TRACK FOUR: Laurent Garnier - "Virtual Breakdown" - also very 90s, squelchy techno which bubbles nicely without ever getting the head of steam going that would seal a second place vote.

no subject
haha but of course that's the spelling. No wonder my google searches to try and identify this track last week were producing 0 results.
