Year In Pop #35

[Poll #1049325]

Due to having excessive time on my hands and not wanting to actually start tidying/packing for another few days at the very least, I have hunted down YouTubes of all of the above:
James Blunt
Elvis
Scouting For Girls
Natalie Imbruglia
Reverend and The Makers [poss. not work safe]
Maroon 5 [also poss. not work safe]
The Twang
Armand Van Helden

Yeah, I do have a lot of sympathy with you on all of those points, and kind of agreed with them myself - until I went to see her play at Wimbledon, first playing singles and then doubles with her sister, and they just blew me away with the power and particularly their passion. I've been a fan ever since, grunts and all.

Anyway, I don't think she's deliberately disrespecting the tour, more that she's got a much wider range of interests to fill her time than just tennis. Kind of like a Paris Hilton of the tennis world.

She and Paris are friends! They announced their celibacy vow together.

I don't apply any of my views on pop music to tennis, I would pretty much be a tennis rockist. I like old-skool traditional clever play, finesse and stuff rather than dumb ballbashing, and I think it's really bad for the sport when its biggest name (and one of its biggest talents) has such a casual attitude towards it. I don't like the glitzy celebrity of certain players either, b/c it often just translates into favouritism. Also, I love US pop stars and hate US tennis players.

Which must make me a tennis popist. I love it.

I really like the glitzy celebrity side, lots of the other players I find bland, even if I can appreciate their finesse.
