Pop Open Group D RESULTS

As before I'll be updating the results regularly over the afternoon. It was VERY close, though with a clear winner. Top three go through.

First Place - "Stripper Friends" by Aimee Allen. 9 first-place votes. 31% of total points. [livejournal.com profile] piratemoggy wins and goes into the Noughties group for Round 2.

Second Place - "Loving Pauper" by Gregory Isaacs. 5 first-place votes. 21% of total points. [livejournal.com profile] martinskidmore qualifies and is put into the Fifties And Before group for Round 2.

Third Place - "Equal Share" by Lutan Fyah. 5 first-place votes. 17% of total points. [livejournal.com profile] byebyepride qualifies on # of first-place votes and is put into the Eighties group for Round 2.

Fourth Place - "Making Money" by Elephant Man. 4 first-place votes. 17% of total points. [livejournal.com profile] boyofbadgers is OUT.

Fifth Place - "Dollar Sign" by Sticky ft Lady Stush. 3 first-place votes. 15% of total points. [livejournal.com profile] dubdobdee is OUT.

What this means is that [livejournal.com profile] piratemoggy gets to choose which Round 2 group she is in (out of Noughties, Nineties, Eighties, Seventies, Sixties and Fifties & Before) and which the third-placed qualifier ([livejournal.com profile] byebyepride) is in.

OMG :D I thought I was going to crash and burn in the first round by getting nil points, League style.

This was definitely worth deciding to phone in sick to work for.* Am too excited to choose decade yet and have to go and wait for the maternal unit anyway but how VERY EXCITING.

*Did actually have marginally better reason than just wanting to see Pop Open results but obv. this is bonus.

I fear anguish in my future! Depends how many people hadn't heard Stush before, judging by how things stand now.

blimey!

It's nice to know that one's vote counts. That's the second week in a row I think where it made all the diff.

Of course I'd rather more Poptimists overall were voting...

My top two = the voters' bottom two! :(

Ironically I think it was giving my No 2 vote to Lutan rather than Aimee or Gregory - which was pretty close - that sent poor Ele home!

If I had entered a no. 2 place vote for Elephant Man, what would have happened? Would I have still gone through on no. 1 votes, even though EM would have a higher %age points?

ha! my tactics paid off.

INDIE WINS!

Albeit unsuccesful LA emo-rawk-chick indie, but still...

I forgot to vote this week! Can't disagree with that as #1 though.

I'm kind of surprised by these results! To me, Stush aside, Elephant Man was the obvious stand-out, and it hasn't cropped up yet...

I don't remember what order I put them, but the two winners were my top two (not counting Stush). Elephant Man never quite does it for me, though he's genial enough (but twas Kat Deluna who put the "Whine Up" single over for me).

I love plenty of Ele songs... but this one didn't do much for me. Come on Luton AirportLutan Fyah!

Welcome to my pain.

Hurrah! Scraped through! (Yes, I'd have voted for Stush if I didn't already know it well.)

[identity profile] martinskidmore.livejournal.com 2007-06-25 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I don't think any will cause special problems for me. I guess it's easier for me to find stuff hardly anyone will know from ages ago, but I'm not short of music from any era.

Bvgger. Maybe I should have gone with the Band Of Susans track instead.
