From the sordid world of the self-styled "audioblogger" I bring you "The Top 40 Acts In America Today", don't dwell on it too much, the reason I mention it is that I got a nice email from a UK gent wanting to do a similar thing for the UK, and would I like to enter a top 10 acts? Yes I would, I thought, and then couldn't think of any I liked beyond the obvious 2 or 3. I kept thinking of French or Swedish or American or god-knows-what people, I'm sure this is just brainfreeze, so what should I tell the guy?

Bear in mind that one of the Top 40 acts in America today is Green Day, so literal currentness (the word I'm looking for is currency, isn't it?) is not really necessary.

Dizzee Rascal
Lady Sov
Gorillaz

Won't claiming Kate Bush is a titan of the British music scene result in your ballot being thrown out immediately?

'most talked-about'? This seems like a great way to produce a list of really rubbish bands, not the best. All the best bands are e.g. Uniting Nations, simply ubiquitous and going under the radar as a result (and the snobbery of music bloggers, especially the 'pop-ist' ones).
