Yes I am probably being unfair to poptasticuk who does describe things quite carefully as indie-pop, Euro-dance pop etc. But I probably have a different definition of pop from you, since I can't hear the 'pop' in Data Panik at all, and although I can hear all sorts of pop music being referred to in Of Montreal (and I actually quite enjoyed this one), I can't imagine this being anything like a hit. In fact there are elements -- the tinny drum machines, the puny voice, the kitschy references to pop musics past -- which militate against it being a hit in the current climate, and which it's hard not to read as an indie negation of the 'popular'.
