Legion of Superheroes - The Great Namedropper Pts 1 & 2

I love this record so, so much - to the extent that if anyone had ever produced a copy for me, I'd have had to wed myself to them in gratitude. It's almost - no, it is - impossible to track down. The only proof I had that it had even existed, and was not made up one afternoon in the manner of 'Ryan Giggs Has Broke His Eye' etc., was a tape taped from the John Peel show, about early '99 when I was feeling a bit less than enthusiastic for new music and it sounded like a breath of fresh air. I put it on every compilation tape I ever made in the hope that if I said 'Clarence...Frogman...Hen-ree!' someone might understand the reference, but sadly not. (See also: The Old Payola Roll Blues by Stan Freberg. If I'd just stuck to 'Wasssup....') finally found it when boredly googling one day and coming across a novelty records webpage, then e-maling the webmaster-  as a good 60% of my day-job involves wheedling things out of people, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

If you haven';t heard it, which in all honesty is likely, it's very reminiscent of How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You, or maybe Sing a Simple Song - sounding like there was a party going on in the studio and someone accidentally left the tapes rolling. While someone decides to recite the names of exotic sounding beat combos - the kind that no doubt S.Maconie could whistle thigns by - for no apparent reason. Maybe it's a cautionary tale to party-going music geeks - that no matter how many obscure bands you can drop, someone'll catch you out, just to shut you up.
