Hello, friend!

Really, almost all of these are good to classic. I blanked poor M. Lee Aday just to be contrary, perhaps, but I shudder at the thought of him releasing ANOTHER album.

I voted for Belinda Carlisle but I will be very unhappy if she wins, especially since the song is a rip of the much better "Livin' On A Prayer."

Celine Dion has covered two of these, very well ("All By Myself" and "Drove All Night").

Or shun Meat Loaf in all three sections.
From: [identity profile] chezghost.livejournal.com
only about 4 of these songs are actually power ballads!

'Eyes Without A Face' is fab tho. I had to ask what it was in The PAKENHAM ARMS a few months back.

I would love to see your power ballads tracklist.

This is a fantastic compilation! I ticked 23/39.

Matt, next time remember to include Favourite/Worst texty boxes! Then I could denote my love for FOREIGNER formally! And my hate for Chad K, of course (bizarrely I don't mind the Nickelback song so much as Chad on his own, though it isn't worth a tick).

FOREIGNER > BONNIE TYLER >>> Everything else >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Chad K

Tis as much a sign of power balladry as Running Person Carrying Suitcase is a sign of balearic trance.

Sinead O'Connor should not be on here.

Poison should be winning this easily.

I voted for 17 songs.

didn't you do a few other polls before this? that 'best rock album ever' one for example? or was that Tom?

Cyndi Lauper's 'I Drove All Night' is so much better than Roy Orbison's version. I don't think the song suits The Big O at all and never understood why it was released (it was quite a while after he died).

If you've ever heard Orbital play live, when they do Halcyon, half way through they layer the two songs over the top of each other and the similarity is undeniable. I may have a live track if you want to hear it

I wish you had done the best box, every time I scrolled down I kept seeing a new BEST THING. It's between Bonnie, Foreigner or BIG PHIL.

missing you by John Waite is far and away the best song on this and is a proper Power Ballad too. DO YOU SEE, he says he isn't missing her, BUT REALLY HE IS, ie if it had jangly gtrs behind it, this would be indiest song ever TOO!

'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' was co-written with Jim Steinman and out Meat Loafs Meat Loaf by a VERY LONG WAY. It is eight minutes long and quite, quite epic.

I am quite happy with the current score, with a number of truly great tunes (and Simply Minds ERROR ERROR ERROR) holding their heads high, and still Bonnie comfortably in the lead.

Total Eclipse actually came up in conversation at the wedding I was at last weekend, someone mentioned that there is a Steinman-produced Tyler/Loaf album, power duet after power duet unto infinity. Does anyone know any more? [livejournal.com profile] jel_bugle, I'm looking at you.

In other news, Bonnie is now leading the NOW! 1 poll (started November 14th 2005) as well, instead of the Humang League.

There is "Heaven and Hell" - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000007232/sr=1-2/qid=1155055111/ref=sr_1_2/026-1837900-7766855?ie=UTF8&s=music

Not actual duets, but a kinda cash in! Though as all the Amazon reviews say it'd be great if they dueted, and that is very true. We can only live in hope!
