Now 59 - later 2004 - the Golden Age continues, or....? JoJo, Three Of A Kind, V, Khia, Eric Prydz - we may well not see their like again. On paper this looks set to have a clear winner - but who knows the secret paths down which anygoodatall science will lead us?

Now 58 ended in a DRAW! - and no, no untickings were involved. "Hey Ya" and "Some Girls" fight it out down at the bottom of this poll. Kelis was one vote behind, and Girls Aloud one vote behind that. Very close.

Xenomania with Girls Aloud >>>>>>>> Xenomania without Girls Aloud (there are a few exceptions - 'Round Round', some Rachel Stevens - but not many)

I think that's why she sounded good on it! No tune => nowhere for the voice to go WRONG.

I cite the "not heard it, mate" get out clause.

I will try and find it on youtube tonight though. (Unless someone wants to post a YSI)

The Libertines were very much the exception to the "avoid anything championed by the NME in the 21st century" rule. I thought they were bloody great.

That's actively insane: More More More is the most abysmally personality-free SHAME of a record.

This is why we need Tim F on Poptimists.

I am on the YSI case for both Millian and V, tho kind of scared of people not getting Hip To Hip's amazing uber-boyband-pop awesomeness.

Well done that man. 'These Words' could be a Sandi Thom single!

I like it! He is pretending to be Gary Numan or someone, which is much better than him pretending to be someone sensible.

Got a feeling/ Something's wack

Heard it now (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cis for YSI). Appalling in every way!

OK, the little ascending and descending slide on the strings in the middle was quite cute, but the rest of it - musically, vocally, lyrically - was rub rub rub.

This is a good example of Trying Too Hard to make pop.

Because I'm racist innit. And I don't like Milan very much and that song seemed very murky and indistinct and not half as sexy as it thought it was.

How do you see who didn't tick or did tick what?

How can you, a POP-LOVER, not like Milian very much?!

The song is crystal clear and not particularly sexy, but then it's not trying to be all sexxxy and dirrty, it's flirtatious and playful.

I showed the love. It's still my second favourite single of '04 (although I can't remember the first one. Maybe Butcher Boy.)
