I haven't posted anything on Poptimists for a while, so I thought I'd update you on some of the best new Swedish pop singles.
Linda Sundblad - 2 All My Girls
You may remember Linda's old band, Lambretta, who created the magnificent Bimbo with Max Martin, or her solo singles such as Oh Father and Lose You. Now she's back with a new single, the first from her second album, and it's apparently also a Max Martin track. I wouldn't say it's her best work, but it's growing on me and the video is well worth seeing.
Amy Diamond - Up
Sweden's littlest pop star is growing up and releasing the first single from her fourth album. It's not a cover of The Saturdays' Up, but is an electro-pop song with the emphasis on the pop. I wasn't overly impressed but I've been totally converted and am now quite excited for the album. Listen to Up here.
Fibes, oh Fibes! ft. Kim Wilde - Run To You
Who knew that combining an average Swedish indie-pop group with a long-forgotten 80s pop princess would result in one of the loveliest and catchiest pop songs of the year so far? Run To You is quite an authentic 80s pastiche, rather cheesy and mumsy but it's very pleasant listening. Give it a try here.
