In a Perfect World may be stuck in endlessly delayed release date limbo (Keri has now joined Cassie and Ciara in having one of the best albums of the year not to be released this year -- this makes, what, the fifth time it's been pushed back this year alone?), but at least late year has given us some new fodder with a top double a-side -- one side per super-producer mentor, innit:
Return the Favor, sparkling electro lushness with Timbo
and Turnin' Me On, basstastic minimal Polow banger (guest spotted by, who else, Weezy)
Both of them were growers for me, but ruddy hell did they grow fast and hard once they got started.
EDIT: that'll teach me to check videos with the sound off -- turns out Return the Favor has been redone for the release; the original version, which is the one I was previously familiar with, has a double chorus (the second half's been dropped in the single version), and is frankly the superior version. You can hear it
here in its full, half-minute longer glory!
