"srsly poptimists need 1x CRASH COURSE in contemporary hip-hop"

(That's the Lex speaking)

1. Do we? Or "Do you?" I should say, since we're a loose clumping of individuals innit.

2. GO ON THEN! What's the best hip-hop you've heard this year?

The POP OPEN Round 3 Fite 1: [livejournal.com profile] mackromackro vs <user site="livejo

OK - here's where things get a tiny bit more complicated.

Round 3 of the Pop Open involves 6 one-on-one knockout competitions between anonymised tracks submitted by the competitors.

As before, you can't vote for a song you already know. BUT if you know one song and hate the other, you don't have to vote for that. You can ABSTAIN in favour of one song or the other and it doesn't matter if you know it or not.
If the votes are tied, I will count the abstentions - otherwise, they won't count.

Here's the simple bit - download or stream the songs here: http://freakytrigger.co.uk/ft/2007/11/pop-open-week-141/

And vote here:

[Poll #1096587]

(EDIT: "Abstain in favour of track #1" means you know track 1, but don't like #2 enough to vote for it. Or that you hate both of them but would mildly rather that the idiot responsible for #1 progress than the fool responsible for #2, I guess.)

You have until Monday lunchtime to vote. Reveals and reviews on Friday, when I'll also put up the second match, which is lockedintheatti vs piratemoggy.

Off-topic spam

Hi folks, I expect this will probably be removed as "spamming the community", but there is a tenuous link... if you buy these tickets from me, you'll get to hear one of the two songs that progressed from last week's Pop Open 'Noughties' round!!

At the last minute, I have two spare tickets to see Pendulum's sold-out show at the Electric Ballroom in Camden tonight. They're £15 each (face value). Pls shout if you would like them. I am still going to the gig, so could meet you there with the tickets.
