Just a quick note to say that Saturday's Trig Brother event (which will be enormous fun and for which we still have a spare place or two) will kick off at the Fitzroy Tavern near Goodge Street tube, in the middle of London. Arrive by 2 for a 2.30 kick-off, or if you can't make it until later then turn up to the Fitzroy and find out from people there where the crawl has got to (a short walk only we promise).

How can I poptimise this announcement? Ah I know - POP OPEN! I need a track from [livejournal.com profile] stevem78 if we're to have a group next week (and tracks from other stragglers too - up to 14 out of 24 now, ta).

Female long distance runners see having babies as a tactical advantage - the body's chemistry changes to give higher pain thresholds, endurance and so on. But could the same ever be true for female pop stars? Physical, all-singing, all-dancing performers who rely on presenting a 'perfect' body image such as Madge, Xtina (and yes, Britney) are obviously going to have their performance temporarily affected to a higher degree than lasses who are less active on stage - what about the emotional aspect? Do new pop parents (male or female) lose their bite and start exclusively singing soppy songs about their little Pixie Snowdrop? Perhaps, what doesn't kill them makes them stronger - I would fully expect Beyoncé to up her already ferocious lioness levels - or is this theory a pram full of idle speculation? Gwen Stefani happily dropped her sprog and carried on more or less the same as before.

In any case, it'll be interesting to monitor the Spice Girls' reunion tour...
