Quick thinking required this week as bank holidays mean there's only a four-day turnaround. In the Pop Prem [livejournal.com profile] dubdobdee is aiming for a play-off place at least, whereas in the Chart Championship [livejournal.com profile] epicharmus gets the chance to play kingmaker. And you get the chance to play Kingmaker at him.

Introducing dubdobdee )

Introducing epicharmus )

Chew on that, submit yr tracks, get them to me by Friday if poss, leagueofpop@gmail.com, erm that's it.

Hello poptimists, I've barely listened to music for the past month and have very very little to do for the next week and a half other than fear ants, so what have I missed? Are there any great tunes, new or old, I should be aware of? I feel the need for new music in my life. I have slsk and I'm not afraid to use it.

I did watch MTVFlux this mornign to help, but they kept playing Mika so I reverted to On The Buses.

Sir Terence of Wogan, on the radio just now:

'Pop music's an anglophone thing. In French or Finnish, it's just not right...'

O RLY? Can you judge Eurovision for anything here? Does all English music sound like Canal Street hi-NRG then? Or is it because the only European music 'we' - 'we' being yr Radio 2, maybe Radio 1 audience - hear is in English, save dancehall shows which I guess are already targeted at a patois-speaking audience, radio-wise. But like I said earlier, I'm musically rusty, and probably don't listen to enough non-English pop save 'Initial BB' and Jacques Dutronc.
