It's been a while since I've done one of these posts but I have been on youtube for two hours and it has proved very fruitful indeed, as our popstars have clearly been busy bees...
First up the video to the Lil' Mama song I posted yesterday has emerged; as expected it's poppin', it's poppin'. Best high school video since 'Baby One More Time'? And from the sound of the interlude the follow-up single is ace too (and Lil' Mama can rap properly rather than just shout, as she is keen for us to note).
Second, Avril Lavigne has embarked on producing a conceptual serialised manga story called Make 5 Wishes, each episode set to an instrumental off her (rather good) new album. It's all about a misanthropic teenager called Hana who hates everyone and everything except her imaginary friend Avril, and it is bonkers. We are currently up to Episode 6, and the demon who came through the post has just promised Hana the titular five wishes...you can see the archived episodes at http://www.make5wishes.com and await the next instalment with BATED BREATH.
Third, Miss Beyoncé has decided to make a video for EVERY SONG ON HER ALBUM, just because she can. Pick of the lot is 'Get Me Bodied' which has the most gloriously fun, camp dance moves ever. It's the extended version so it's just about the best thing ever, Beyoncé really goes to town on the dance instructions at the end ("Pat your weave ladies! Pat your weave!" "Do the scissor-leg! Do the scissor-leg!") which of course I have danced along to. I must admit to some disappointment though that "Do the Naomi Campbell walk! Naomi Campbell walk!" didn't culminate in beating someone up with a mobile phone though.
Slightly more mental is 'Kitty Kat', which...well, you know what big cars and big jewellery signify in rap videos, yeah? I wonder if the same applies here. And if so...well, just watch it. Um.
And then 'Upgrade U' which is my JAM at the moment and as expected the video is totally BLINGIN'. Love the sneer throughout, love love love the first half of Jay-Z's rap (you have to wait for that!).
