There is a remix of 'Something Good' over at Popjustice.

  • Hurrah for nu-rave bandwagon inspiring people to do stuff like this :)
  • Except this is a bit rubbish :(

It takes far too long to get going and doesn't improve on the original. As far as I can tell the additions include some 'piaow' noises and a continuous drumbeat throughout. Is there any point in remixing something where the original, recognizeable bits are clearly the best?

Once again this is a case of good idea, poor execution. What they SHOULD have done was stick to the iron laws of bosh remixing: a) speed it up b) add some totally unrelated synth melody c) have some Dutch dude rapping "I cannot believe this is hardcore!" or similar during the middle eight.

Sadly this is just Part #2936 of Kat's Ongoing Disappointment With Nu-Rave.

    Agree? Disagree? Modify?

It's interesting to think about why high-selling music is high-selling.

Your own circumstances of consumption affect how much you like music more than its circumstances of production.

You don't need much expertise or knowledge to have interesting and useful opinions on music.

There is no significant relationship in either direction between music's level of mass appeal and its quality.

I'm sure you can do better - list a possible 'poptimist' tenet in the box and I'll run them as future threads.

I will also take this opportunity to remind players in the League Of Pop to start playing.
