First of all, the number of people watching this community has now topped 100 (thanks to [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane bussing them in for the Shine poll!). HELLO to newcomers and relative newcomers, it's not all Cranberries and Dodgy round here, honest.

Quiz

The pop quiz is ON THURSDAY - details here. If you're planning on coming, now might be a good time to mention it in yez own LJs and see if you can get a team together. Also you could mention it if you can't come but would like there to be more of these. It's only £1 to enter, there are LOADS of prizes and there will also be a limited number of free!! CDs.

Pop World Cup

Votes in Group H need to be in by midnight TONIGHT please (UK time). Here's the ballot. It's very close!

I need Germany and England's second-round tracks by midnight tomorrow.

Now 31 takes us to the (current) halfway point! in the Now polls, and finds Britpop in 'full swing', backed up with a host of fondly and less fondly remembered tracks. DJ Daz should take note of Love City Groove, unfortunate pioneers in the 'put some rap in Eurovision' category. Reeves and Mortimer cover the Monkees, Duran Duran cover the Furious Five, Shaggy tackles Mungo Jerry, Baby D take on the Korgis and Ladysmith Black Mambazo surely fulfil a lifetime ambition by getting to work with China Black.

You'll also get to vote in the Now 30 face-off - Portishead and Massive Attack share the spoils with East 17's "Stay Another Day" a mere two votes behind. Bucketheads in 4th, Boos in 5th, much hatred for the Gallaghers and Mr J Nail, and some bafflement as to what 'handbag house' actually is, that said if you were to make a compilation of the suggestions it would be TOTALLY GREBT as I will prove soon.

The choice between Shampoo and Kylie turned out to be no choice at all - "Trouble" by a mile. I'm expecting a clear winner in this poll, though.

I had to start it somewhere, so it started - there. )
