Jus a reminder that you have until midnight tonight to vote in GROUP A, to be honest I won't be updating the scores until tomorrow morning so the deadline is arbitrary but GET YER VOTES IN. I can reveal that one team's second-half performance saw an embarassing collapse - match report tomorrow!

Also [livejournal.com profile] anthonyeaston, [livejournal.com profile] jel_bugle, [livejournal.com profile] the_roofdog and [livejournal.com profile] zenith, your traXoR and team talks for Group B by midnight TOMORROW please. (One of you has already sent me a track but I need a team talk for it).

MEANWHILE as well as some faffing about what I did at the weekend was SORT OUT all my MP3s and put them on the new external hard drive in an actual DIRECTORY STRUCTURE. This means I stand a chance of actually finding tracks and will be able to choose good ones to YSI much easier. ALSO I moved a load of OLD SCHOOL hip-hop and rave which Mike Daddino gave me as a wedding present onto the EHD, so if you have any particular old school requests there is a good chance* I have them.

My mood and state of health this morning: 4 Hero - "No Sleep Raver (G & D Mix)". If you know it. And if I hadn't fvcked up the YSI you would know it. Not that I was raving or anything.

*Addendum 1: "good chance" indeed, old school tracks are as numberless as the stars but I do have a bunch of interesting stuff.
**Addendum 2: lots of new people on Poptimists, hello all you new faces hope yr enjoying your happy hardcore.

...as Robyn covers "Buffalo Stance". Link courtesy of Nu-Popjustice: new look, new (old?) address, and a bugger to load -- on my machine at least. Robyn/BuffaloStance/Nu-PJ: Three times the poptimax thrill power!

It has me in it, a little bit, and some other poptimists too. Some poor records get props this week. I like the diversity of the new format but I also miss its parochialism, actually seeing where in the charts all these tunes got to, and the gritted teeth as we had to 'tackle' hopeless post-Libertines wannabes yet again.

1990! TIME FOR THE GURU! Except Josh can't muscle his way in such is the amazing all-star line up on Now 17. The Now series discovers baggy and goes indie crazy, except at the same time it goes dance crazy (again!) and it's a shame only one of the stellar tracks here can win. I may be showing my age here a little - I was 17 years old and sticking the funky drummer beat under some flared mumbling was the MOST EXCITING THING POP COULD DO, bring it on Candy Flip. Phil Collins may pop up to harsh the buzz but rejoice that his perhaps worst ever hit is represented here in its comedy dance version by Jam Tronik.

The vibe was strongly felt on Now 16 with Technotronic's "Pump Up The Jam" ending up walking it, "Street Tuff" 5 votes behind in second and De La Soul third. Kate Bush got under 50%. No real consensus on worst though Wet Wet Wet and Richard Marx got a certain amount of disapproval. Definite consensus on Bros - "When Will I Be Famous?" is the one. But enough of history (like a beat up car), on to the FUTUR as it was at the dawn of an new decade...

This is jam hot. This is jam hot. )
