This post was inspired by hearing Midnight Train To Georgia in a taxi last night

I don't have create-o-poll-ability due to spending all my money on houmous and camera film. But someone who does really ought to do one for one of those Valentine's type compilations, or one endorsed by Steve '90% pre-recorded, I need space to drive the desk' Wright. I think the rubbishness quotient needs determining...

I tend to sleep with the radio on so wake up to the quacking voice of Wright talking hil-ar-iously over the trails more times than I'd prefer. On the other hand, waking up to Brian Matthews (not literally, arf) is a good way to start a Saturday, I reckon.

Odd choice of ABBA song!

When the Now polls end (only 6 to go) there will be many more of these alBUM polls I think.

7 NOW!s to go in fact!

Now 64 is out next week (track list spoiler (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/tracks/B000GCGA5G/ref=dp_tracks_all_1/202-3289039-8551836?ie=UTF8#disc_1))

Yeah, it's an above-average NOW! (But let's not get ahead of ourselves haha)

I think [livejournal.com profile] stevem78's monthly polls and youtube links have played some part in increasing the recognition factor of a few of these songs. Hell, the very existence of [livejournal.com profile] poptimists is a factor no doubt.

Recency is also a factor though - there are plenty of songs on past Nows that I recognise the title of and would have once known but are complete blanks to me now. So it's also a fact that for more marginal tracks the recognition hasn't had time to fade way yet

i like the way brian matthews calls his regular listeners "avids" and refers to people "cutting sides" and also the way he plays some psychomadelia/garage/wacky stuff even though he's clearly all about beat groups and dusty/cilla/girl singers at heart.
