My theory is that ppl, including me, just replied in a frenzy, desperate to be in the first ten, without thinking about their answers.

I think it's called "teething". You have that little 'pleasure' to come, Tom.

Well, mine was "is one year old" which is boringly true and uncontroversial. Don't know who the nindie and counter nindies were by though.

Yes because I am always so un-indie that the very idea of me being indie is automatically hilarious because it's so unlikely!

Well, we all are indie because we often talk about pop in ways that the mainstream doesn't and because none of the commercial mags will support our conversation - which most of you are fine with, and it gives this a leisure-time flair it wouldn't have if it brought in bucks, but I'm not fine with it, since our not finding a way to finance this gives us an all-purpose excuse for not thinking through our ideas. "Oh, sorry, work intervenes, can't finish this thought."

But then, Sun Records was an indie. So was Chess, once upon a time.
