So our hand-wringing the other month about TEH DEATH OF POP OH NO was a load of bollocks, wasn't it, in the light of a) news that Xtina is working with Rich Harrison, b) and Paris Hilton with Scott Storch, c) excellent new Sugababes album (which features GLAM and CRUNK and Franz Ferdinand basslines and a string-soaked finale, d) amazing new Rachel Stevens album (even the lame trip-hop at the end is growing on me), e) the fucking incredible new Britney tracks.

I can put "f) the tATu album" in there when someone makes me a copy, ahem ahem.

Oh and g) Jacques Lu Cont doing the Madonna album ie it might not be quite as bad as we'd assumed because if there's one man who can redeem her in 2005 it's him.

Even Goldcrapp don't seem quite so bad now that I've heard the Tiefschwarz remix of 'Ooh La La' which is slightly mind-blowing.

I was just thinking yesterday about how things seem to be looking up for 05 pop, it's a good thing we've all got clubs to play it in now eh.

There are so many good things around now that when I put together a tentative setlist for Lovelife/Sugar, it ran to over five hours.

Yes sorry I meant the JLC remix of course. "Hollywood" itself was horrible.

It's really weird, the Britney thread was only started yesterday and has Britney in the title but I can't find it with the search function!

Search function = FuXoRed for anything after about three weeks ago. This happens from time to time.

Other "Pop in possibly being back" sign: http://www.cduk.com/mitracks.php is the new CD:UK chart standard, wherein the "Kidz" vote for what they want to see on the show. Anyway, it's completely pop dominated (except, ummm, Depeche Mode), and the face of indie is now Lauren Laverne. And Sway is in the top 50! Joy of joys.

you know I'm ecstatic about that but it's gotta be said: lower than sov! and kano! and slk! heh.

also haha 'mi' tracks. saw cd:uk on saturday without realising they'd revamped it.

pop never went away, did it? it's just that all the pop stars went on holiday at the same time.
