Welcome to the Church of What's Happening Now

Hello, Kylie here, just to say that my friends at Last.fm have been working round the clock to bring you the latest poptimists chart. AND I DO MEAN LATE!!!!!!!

After the last couple of weeks of widely played songs, this week sees poptimists splintering with the new number 1 and 2 only just ahead by a nose of a swathe of songe with a reach of 3. I don't know what to make of this, especially as I've not heard #2 or #1:

1 Twenty 4 Seven - Leave Them Alone 6
2 vrooom - Budjenje 5

Joint 3rd with 3 plays
Johnny Boy - Wall Street
Johnny Boy - War On Want
The KLF - It's Grim Up North (Radio Edit)
Johnny Boy - You Are The Generation That Bought More Shoes And You Get What You Deserve
Johnny Boy - Fifteen Minutes
Johnny Boy - Livin' In The City
Morningwood - nth Degree
The Knife - F As In Knife

Then ranked outside the 10 but also with 3 plays each:
Half Man Half Biscuit - Joy Division Oven Gloves
Shuji to Akira - Seishun Amigo
Half Man Half Biscuit - Shit Arm, Bad Tattoo
The Knife - Like a pen
Johnny Boy - Bonnie Parker's 115th Dream
Marit Bergman Vs. Justus Köhncke - Rentcode
Girls Aloud - Wild Horses
Deepchild - Blackness of the Sea (Luomo)
The Knife - Na na na
The Knife - silent shout
The Knife - Marble house
Robyn - Be mine!

I can tell you that I've been listening to the last.fm poptimists radio* and it's truly lovely. A smattering of your pop favourites with a SUSPICIOUS amount of indie and esoteric listening thrown in for good measure. They've obviously extended their play list as Rex Teh Dog came out of it the other day. MMMMMMM. I was very struck by Melody Club which also popped up. Somebody tell me about em - and which album i should buy

Bye bye til next week, love Kylie

*that link only works if you have the standalone player - go get it! nb i am not actually being paid for this advocacy, i just love it

What to make of it

If only Twenty 4 Seven had had a SHOUTY MAN, they would have qualified. One can never underestimate how much ver indie kids like shouty men.

Melody Club are brilliant! They are a Swedish electro-pop-rock group, very 80s energetic sort of sound. I think Face The Music is their best album (more commercially poppy, higher rate of good songs) but if you're into the electro you might like the first one better.

I would agree with Jessica that "Face The Music" is better, but that said, "Electric" is their absolute best song, worth the purchase of its parent album alone.

I once tried to buy Music Machine in Virgin but they wouldn't let me! I ended up getting it from the Internet. Do you like it so far?

Half Man also robbed.

The best thing about Poptimists radio is the occasional Chinese pop track that pops up. Dig them ungoogleable names.
