2011 In Pop: APRIL

LMFAO finished April at the top of the charts, having spent the preceeding weeks at #3 and #2 behind J-Lo doing the Lambada. Between them they've chased Adele out of the top 10! Let's see what everyone else has been up to:

[Poll #1738288]

Remember you can still go back and tick in the previous monthly chart polls until the end of the year. To change your vote, click 'Poll #12345' then 'Fill Out Poll'.

Haha was just thinking 'oh look me and Kat have written totally different things, although both named two songs in the best of April box' and then saw that we are UNITED BY WAR ON MARS.

The sexiest damn thing I've heard in forever, holy shit:

("Cool, spacious backing with synths like dripping water, Kelly drawing out her notes in just the right manner", I said about it in my own journal. So stunning.)

Also search: Rose Colored Glasses, Grown Woman (these were singles last year, HOW WAS I NOT MADE AWARE OF THEM), Heartbreaker, On & On. Anticipation for upcoming new KRow album: AT FEVER PITCH.

(Footnote: commonly misattributed to Kelly but totally not her (see top comment for ID) I Don't Wanna = also amazing. So ridiculously catchy! Dear god that thing makes me dance around the place.)

Anna Abreu: yeah, I'm not about to stop reposting this one anytime soon:

(Nb: belatedly noticed the sound quality was crap the first time I posted it; this one sounds better.)

Also concluded I did the lead single a thorough disservice by not posting it in my album pitch, because it is in fact PROPERLY EXCELLENT:

(although technically I didn't hear that one for the first time in April, what with radio play, though I did only hear it properly then)

And from the older stuff pile, OBLIGATORY BASS MUSIC AMAZINGNESS:

Shimmering, floaty sublimeness, gah. I have listened to this a RIDICULOUS amount of times.

Has that nero song not been released yet? Was it last month? Gah?

I underrated this when it was released - it felt too conservative following up GD&TOP's madness, and they had been away for so long as a group that I expected to be blown away. Forgetting that GD&TOP have their thing, and Big Bang another.

I get the impression that Big Bang are no longer sure of their thing - "Love Song" seems like a poor man's "With Or Without You," half suspended between guitar pomp and boyband sweets, with T.O.P. incongruously there with his growl.
