KYLIE

So, it goes:

  • SAW Kylie with big curly hair and JasonOrangeDonovan

  • Sultry Kylie in spacesuit

  • Indie Kylie

  • BOTTOM WRIGGLING Kylie

  • Am I correct in this belief?

If so then I put it to the house to a) PICK THE BEST KYLIE and b) remind me how Confide In Me goes!

I personally think the sodding Locomotion is the best Kylie track. Is this a Poptimistic outlook? Am I so hungover that I am forgetting what my real actual favourite is and just going for the one where I know the dance?

    MORE SONGS SHOULD HAVE DANCES.

    Yes.

Indie Kylie has two subphases tho

    - Kylie is wuvved ironically by indie-ists everywhere and makes that one the Lex likes.
    - Kylie actually GOES indie and gets a song written for her by the ManiXXoR.

I fear that Bottom Wiggling Gay Icon Kylie may be making a further mutation into Classy Diva Gay Icon Kylie (see also Madonna: The Boring Years)

Isn't all Gay Icon Kylie all of Kylie anyway? I was definitely reading about her strong support by the homosexualists for years before CGYOOMH came along.

Is there a specific Duets Kylie stage, or is it just Where The Red Roses Grow and Kids in a box, glowering at each other?

I think it's just those two - both appearances on other people's albums of duets. And she's on an obscure mid-90s Towa Tei single as well, singing about font typefaces. Pop!

She also did a duet-of-sorts with professional annoying dick Ben Lee on a cover version of "The Reflex". It was shit. She did another song with Towa Tei this year, too, called "Sometime Samurai".

Madonna hasn't had any Boring Years! She's having Embarrassing Menopausal Years at the moment but she was by and large fantastic up until a couple of years ago, and even her last album has some of her finest moments on it.

'Confide In Me' = 'Justify My Love'+++, it is not remotely indie!

I think my second favourite Kylie song is either 'Shocked' or the Fischerspooner remix of 'Come Into My World'.

I have never managed to 'get with' the Bedtime Stories / Evita / Used to be my playground era, really.

I didn't say Confide in Me WAS indie, but that was the time when Indie magazines started loving the Kyl. It was around then that she did a photoshoot - I can hardly bring myself to type it - LYING on a BED with BOBBY GILLESPIE.

I love 'This Used To Be My Playground'! I was listening to it at work last night! The tasteful strings! Ditto Bedtime Stories but on a more opulent, lush scale, thanks Babyface, she really turns into the white Sade. 'Take A Bow' possibly = best Madonna ballad. The Evita era was, um, best left well alone but worth it for the insane tangotechno remix of 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' which surely must be played at Poptimism one day.

I never knew Kylie once lay on a bed with the G*******e. I think I may have to have a lie down myself.

Confide In Me isn't the one with the Barbarella/spacesuit video - that is Put Yourself In My Place, from the same album.

Confide In Me is utterly, utterly fantastic, but a bit hard to describe. It is slow and sultry and breathy and lovely; it is the song that most of Suede's Head Music desperately wanted to be.

Confide In Me is notable for being a Number One (well, in Australia, #2 in the UK) single that goes for SIX MINUTES and is not by some variety of indie dullard.

Only Madonna can usually pull that sort of stuff off.

Put Yourself In My Place was proven by science on ILM to be her best ever single, but I think "Love At First Sight" pips it SLIGHTLY.

Indeed! Respect the orange wristband of supremacy!

It's the one where all the French is written on the screen and whizzes past in big primary colours like.

    [identity profile] freakytigger.livejournal.com 2005-08-25 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
My favourite is "Hand On Your Heart" by the way.

I do prefer I Should Be So Kylie, purely for the hair and daft frilly skirts.

Wasn't Confide In Me the big "Kylie goes all credible DANCE" release on DeConstruction? I don't think it has much of a tune but she whispers all sexily over it and the video is made like a helpline "Worried? Bored? Call this number" and there's lots of pictures of Kylie in DIFFERENT GUISES e.g. nice girl, hippy, saucy nurse &Co. I could be making all of this up by the way.

Dear GOD my head hurts. By the way I also like Hand On Your Heart best and I've recently grown fond of "Love At First Sight" as it keeps getting played on teh radio here for some reason.
