There is a HUGE (like almost full page) article on the Goldfrapp album in today's Guardian, in the main broadsheet news section. The news apparently is that some people think 'Supernature' is a bit sexy.

I mention this after the discussion last week about Goldfrapp's critical context in the UK! I wonder if the G are going to make a habit of giving prominent news pieces every time a critic 'dubs' something.

Oh ugh god that article makes me slightly nauseous, there really should be a limit on how many times the word 'sexy' and variants thereof can be used in one paragraph and especially in conjunction with quotes from rock critics.

Oh dear. Today really is KILL TEH GUARDIAM day in my world.

The gentle trip-hop of their debut album, Felt Mountain, gave way to the electro-raunch of their second, Black Cherry, as they evolved from being a band that liked to flirt into a band that would happily settle for a grope instead.

How do you settle for a grope rather than... oh forget it. TWARTS.

Conor McNicholas, editor of NME, knows what he makes of it. "It is an incredibly sexy album," he said. "Is it the sexiest album around at the moment? Yes, I think it probably is... it's just outside the mainstream and constantly feels edgy."

As far as mood music goes, though, McNicholas has his own favourite. "I think Nirvana's Nevermind is the greatest shagging album because it's got loads of quiet/loud moments and pent-up feelings," he said. "But you have to be careful you don't sing along - especially that line 'Love myself better than you'."

The worst thing is that his reasoning actually tells you something about what Conor McNicholas is like in bed, it is hard to think of anything in the world I needed or wanted to know less.
